Festivals & Events Ontario sent out this alert late yesterday afternoon - Wednesday, February 4, 2015:
ALERT - FEO Marketplace & Other Conference Attendees:
DO NOT PROVIDE CREDIT CARD PAYMENT TO EHS - EXHIBITORS HOUSING SERVICES
It has come to FEO's attention that employees from Exhibitors Housing Services (EHS) in the USA, are calling FEO Marketplace exhibitors and are misrepresenting themselves as agents of, or otherwise affiliated with, the 2015 FEO Conference and further misrepresenting that they are authorized to act on behalf of Festivals & Events Ontario.
EHS employees are, without consent or authority of FEO to use exhibitor or member information from the 2015 FEO Conference Website. Please be AWARE and do not provide any personal information, including credit card payment to this company.
Here's What Seems to be Happening:
EHS is calling/targeting marketplace suppliers and perhaps other FEO members to solicit hotel rooms by misleading them into believing that they are agents of Festivals and Event Ontario. In doing so, they may also be informing the marketplace exhibitor that they know they have not made their hotel reservations and then they misleadingly say that the host hotel, the Sheraton on the Falls and Crown Plaza is sold out or that they have a lower room rate and they then offer to book the hotel for them.
